The Future of Basketball?

I recently stumbled across Jordan McCabe while browsing online and was completely amazed…I have rarely seen such a talent in any field!

More impressive is his lack of “ball hogging” tendencies that many young basketball stars have, and Jordan is just as comfortable throwing a beautiful pass to set-up his teammates…have a look at the videos below!

Journal Entry #2

So here I am again…

Yes so it’s been a busy week…

From learning the ins and outs of the whole social networking scene (Facebook, Twitter etc), to quarrelling with my girlfriend…this week has been extremely busy!

So…where do I start?

This entry will not be half as philosophical as the previous journal entry and will be more of a “vent”, but I’m sure you can forgive me this.

In the aim to maximise energy levels, improve overall body health and strengthen my immune system, I today bought a 4 month batch of “CENOVIS: Men’s Once Daily Multi”.

It sounds like some “magic sex pill” (which of course, I WOULDN’T NEED!Hot smile ), but in fact it is a multi-vitamin containing the following components (roughly);

  • · Vitamin B1 which supports the nervous system
  • · Iron & Vitamin B6 which helps maintain normal blood
  • · Vitamin C & Zinc which maintains a healthy immune function
  • · Iron, Vitamins B5 and B3 which assists energy production
  • · Vitamin A which helps maintain healthy eyes
  • · Vitamin D3 which helps calcium absorption
  • · Zinc which supports male physiology
  • · Antioxidants Selenium, Zinc and Vitamins A & C

My aim is (as I said), to strengthen my body to the greatest degree particularly since I’ve recently got back into physical training and also the change of seasons means possible colds floating around too so immune strength needs to be maximised. I have never tried to supplement my diet with this type of thing before so I’ll let you know how it goes as tomorrow is day one of my 125 day trial batch.

Now the whole Facebook thing is an interesting issue…for years I scorned people who spend HOURS each day of valuable time to browse aimlessly on Facebook.

Over time I tried it and due to the ridiculous invasions of privacy throughout their programming, I closed my account and kept away for a long time…

Why didn’t I think that this “invasion of privacy” and “gaping personal exposure” might be good for business purposes??? Who knows, but I have stumbled upon this fact now (joining the party much later than others) and spent a couple of hours absorbing all the secrets to Facebooking and Twitter, planning to use them for these aforementioned purposes in the future…what great tools!

I also made another Facebook page with tighter security settings for personal use just for keeping contact with my mother, close friends and girlfriend when needed.

You may add either the Facebook of my chess coaching business here, or my personal page here.

I’m getting kind of tired and my mind is empty…have a nice sleep everybody. Rolling on the floor laughing

Here is my attempt at a Chinese dish similar to that which I have eaten before…Confused smile

I am NOT following a recipe but I AM just throwing the basic elements together with some common sense.

The result turns out not too bad as expressed by my Chinese taste testers and myself as well! In love

Try this one for your self! Winking smile

Journal Entry #1

So I’ve decided to keep an online journal…not for you but for me.

These pages will be stained with the experiences, thoughts, laughs and tears of life, thus exposing much of my soul…how lucky art thou?  Nerd smile

It is 6.55am and as the rain trickles down my window, a peaceful silence embraces me and I wonder if the train will arrive at my destination on time.

The train seems empty and my thoughts drift to my former life, which seems more like an unreal history lesson or a badly directed Hollywood movie now than a collection of everyday experiences..

Behaviour that would now make me blush with embarrassment driven by a quality of thought that could shame  the Neanderthal ancestors before me… I frown and take a deep breath .Sleepy smile

I decide finally that the former stage of my life was the “educational stage” of life where many lessons, accumulated knowledge and understanding came from…so that nobody I advise in later life can ever say such things as “Why should I listen to you? You’ve never walked in my shoes!! Steaming mad“, I have, young friend….I have .

Recent readings of the works of philosopher Michel de Montaigne (1533-1592) have strengthened my conviction that the trials in life should be welcomed as a blessing in disguise, rather than an inescapable storm.

War time will teach us courage as illness teaches us fortitude, ugliness teaches us to appreciate beauty as loneliness teaches us to appreciate love…life is a two sided coin.

So what should we do about it? What is the ultimate end to aim for?

I believe the answer is the same as that which has alluded most men for centuries…wisdom.

Each age and each culture has had its great bearers of wisdom from Jesus Christ to Socrates, Lao Tzu to Confucius…these great minds opened the eyes of millions.

Most of the worlds population have closed their eyes again…fallen back to sleep.

““We can be knowledgable with other men’s knowledge but we cannot be wise with other men’s wisdom.”

-Michel de Montaigne

My train approaches my destination and I shutdown the laptop as the doors abruptly open…”please stand clear, doors closing…”.

Brendan’s Wednesday News: NSW Open VIDEO footage

Due to some new priorities and business goals, I will have to limit my blogging in the future and will only be blogging in the form of the weekly video show “Brendan’s Wednesday News”.

This week is only a rush job and is basically a  video impression of the NSW Open games and players…

I hope you enjoy…

NSW Open: Please…don’t get upset!

Now, round 1 was a normal case of the higher rated bullies beating up the weaker guys below them mostly but then in round 2 something strange happened…karma! ;)

IMG_0053

Round 2:

Now as I said before, karma struck in round two with the highly rated bullies getting a little of their own medicine….well, not really… but its nice to see some inspired players proving that the powerful guys at the top of our chess scene are indeed mortal!

The main list of casualties on the top boards is as follows;

Athur Huynh drew with Zong-Yuan Zhao
John Papatoniou beat George Xie
Emma Guo drew with Tomek Rej
Mosaddeque Ali drew with Armen Ayvazyan
Anton Smirnov beat Johnny Bolens
Jack Ruan drew with Stanislav Berezovski
George Lester beat Barak Atzmon-Simon

Unbelievable right? Here’s some proof!

(Johnny Bolens, realising he has fallen into the oldest trap in the book!)

The remainder of the tournament promises to be very interesting and I shall watch with interest, but as I have to coach today…I will not arrive at the venue until 6pm maybe, so coverage will be slowed…

I also have a video of coverage coming soon, so be patient and you will enjoy it, I’m sure!
